JFS No Excuse for

Abuse Event Breaks

Fundraising Record

Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service
recently hosted the agency’s 19th Annual No
Excuse for Abuse Evening at The Raymond F.
Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West
Palm Beach. The event, which was attended by
nearly 400 people, supports the organization’s
ongoing commitment to breaking the stigmas of
abuse and mental illness, addiction, and suicide,
through awareness, education, and treatment.
Raising more than $566,000, this year’s event
surpassed the fundraising for any previous event

This year’s keynote speaker was Mariel Hemingway, Tracy Caruso
Hemingway, an Academy Award-nominated
actor, mental health advocate, and author. Hemingway, Hemingway has also Marc Hopin, Geoff and Wendy Stahl, Dr. Allan and Cindy Schlossberg, Joel Yudenfreund,
who is also the granddaughter of Nobel Prize-winning written a book on the topic, Dr. Paula Newmark and Gary Hoffman
author Ernest Hemingway, shared her personal story titled “Out Came the Sun:
of overcoming the legacy of mental illness, addiction, Overcoming the Legacy of Mental Illness, Addiction, and
and suicide in one of America’s most famous families. Suicide in My Family.”
