Abacoa Community Garden

his ever-growing planting committee. There are always
new varieties of greens, peppers, cabbages, collards,
tomatoes, eggplants, vegetables from around the world,
etc., and many new experiments with planting methods.
With all the plants attracting butterflies, there are always
some flying by and the mockingbirds are communicating
all day long in the gumbo limbo tree. Rabbit fencing
around the beds has proven to help keep all plants
growing!
Garden membership runs from Aug. 1 to July 31.
You can download forms at www.abacoa.com/abacoa-
community-garden or pick up one in the mailbox at
the garden entrance at 1022 Community Drive. There
is a waiting list for independent beds, but if interested,
join and check the box. Stop by, especially on Saturday
morning, and check out our Facebook page. You’ll meet
a great group of people and get a chance to be outside
helping yourself and the community at large. We welcome
all new members and volunteers (those with or without
planting expertise!)
