Delaire’s Glenn Matusik Cooks Up Winning Dish at
7th Annual “Chef Showdown” Hosted by St. Andrews
A sold-out crowd of more than 300
enjoyed a memorable culinary experience
the evening of November 14th as St.
Andrews hosted the annual competition
between four of the area’s outstanding
country club Executive Chefs. The “Chef
Showdown” is a charity event benefitting
the Trustbridge Hospice Foundation, a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
supports patients throughout Palm Beach
and Broward Counties who are facing
advanced illness and end of life. This
year’s Showdown raised more than

and their families. In just five days over $15,000 was raised. “We are truly a small, caring
community that likes to think ‘local’ when giving back to those who have fought for our
freedoms,” commented Alex Fisher, Co-Chair of Bocaire’s Charity Committee.
Stand Down’s vision is to empower veterans to lead independent lives with respect and
dignity, to be able to achieve housing and financial stability. Roy J. Foster is a former U.S.
Army veteran. He left the service with big plans for civilian life. However, the stars aligned
“Masquerade Murder Mystery Night” on page 4 with a different plan for Mr. Foster. Instead, he found himself homeless and struggling with
an addiction to drugs and alcohol. He lived a life witnessing shootings and all types of crimes
while living on the street and in drug houses.
Roy wanted more for himself. He found the strength and the resources to get clean and
back on the right track. He knew there were many other veterans suffering the way he was
and that transformed into a passion for helping others in his situation.
