families, friends, and
community members. This
event promises an evening
filled with meaningful
activities, delicious food,
and opportunities to connect
with one another.

The body’s sacredness: We discovered that life imparts
a permanent sacredness to the body, whose holiness
remains intact even after the soul has departed. We learned
that this sanctity requires treating the body respectfully
and burying it promptly.
Autopsies: Jewish law generally forbids autopsies as a
desecration of the body’s sanctity, unless there is a human
life that can be saved as a result.
The mitzvah of burial: A body is a sacred representation
of the Divine Image. Its holiness should be cherished, even
after life, by being buried entirely and promptly.
Organ donation: As noble as it is to save the life of
another, a major problem with organ donation is that donor
organs such as the heart and liver need to be harvested
while the heart is still beating — a state that Torah defines
as still alive, even if the brain is already dead.
Cremation: Though rising in popularity in America,
this treatment to our bodies is a violation of our faith, with
devastating and irrevocable consequences.
This seminar allowed participants to feel more
empowered to face medical decisions. With the backdrop
provided, participants can make informed and Torah-
aligned choices and be better equipped to pose queries to
