Before Barbie … Morikami Museum And Japanese Gardens
Presents ‘Avatars Of The Samurai Spirit’ Dolls Exhibit
Long before Barbie
became de rigueur, dolls
were utilized around the
world for a variety of
societal purposes, ranging
from banishing spirits to
breaking cultural barriers.
A new exhibit on display
from April 27 through Oct.
6 at the Morikami Museum
in Delray Beach is an
intriguing example.
It was customary in
Japan to display dolls during Momotarō with animal entourage
