I mean everyone has an idea of what that means and what
organizations are involved. Understanding how and why
special places with their wildlife, plants, and more, hold a
special value in our hearts is central to the conservation ethos.
While these conservation efforts cannot change the past, the
success we can engender through the three “P’s” can shape
a better future.
One poignant example is with the bison once numbering
between 30 and 60 million but by the 1880s only 512 bison
remained after their destruction due to western expansion,
market demand, and a deliberate effort by certain federal
forces. The commitment of Native American leaders working
to restore bison to their lands was the cornerstone of the
species’ recovery!
In Florida, many endangered species are created through
overdevelopment and ignoring the dynamics of ecosystem
balance and species preservation. Now, each of us can engage
the three “P’s” for conservation, in whatever way(s) YOU see
fit! We are each capable, in our unique way to contribute to
such a vital effort for the sake of this and future generations!
