Founder Keri Morrison. “The unbelievable support from
our sponsors and guests helped us raise a record amount
of funds that will go directly to our mission of ending
childhood drowning.”
Life Saver Pool Fence president Eric Lupton awarded Happy
their annual Life Saver Award to Paul DeMello, who
founded J.A.C.D. (Just Against Children Drowning) which
donates Life Saver Pool Fence Systems to families. He
founded J.A.C.D. in honor of Joshua and Christian DeMello,
his twins who tragically drowned at 13 months old.
Keynote speaker for the evening, Paul Lagergren, H lidays
Jr., shared his personal experience with Live Like Jake
following the nonfatal drowning accident of his 18-month-
old daughter, Penelope. Lagergren recounted how, while
struggling to pay the medical bills required to keep
Penelope alive, Live Like Jake reached out offering help.
“For every child who drowns, there are nearly three
times as many who survive, but suffer serious injuries
as a result,” says Morrison. “Live Like Jake is there to
support those families as well, which makes every dollar
raised critical for those families in need on a daily basis.”
