The National Science Foundation (NSF) Summer
Intensive Neuroscience Experiences (SINE) at FAU
Jupiter recently culminated with a student research
poster symposium.
The Summer 2023 cohort consisted of 12 student
researchers hosted by labs at the FAU Stiles-
Nicholson Brain Institute, Max Planck Institute for
Neuroscience and the Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps
Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology.
Their research included studies of Alzheimer’s
disease, neurological processes involved in feeling
hunger, and the neurological impacts of prescription
opioid use during pregnancy.

MobileMinds Hosted Love,
Hope & Healing

Love, Hope & Healing, a Palm Beach County-based
nonprofit organization, visited the FAU Stiles-
Nicholson Brain Institute on a field trip for the
organization’s teen summer camp program. Members
of the Institute’s MobileMinds program led the day’s
activities. The students learned about the life of a
neuroscientist directly from the source and explored
how neurons communicate through a series of games
and hands-on activities.
