Ninth Annual Live Like Jake 5K

The day included a prerace
warmup provided by HEW Fitness
Boynton Beach; continental
breakfast from Crux Coffee and
Trader Joe’s; opening welcome from
Live Like Jake founders Keri and
Roarke Morrison and the 7:30 a.m.

a reading of the names of children who lost their lives
from drowning, followed by special medal presentations
to race category winners and prize drawings.

Annual Live Like Jake 5K. Coffee and Trader Joe’s.

Keri Morrison reads the names of the children whose lives
were lost from drowning.

“We are incredibly appreciative of the contributions
from our participants, sponsors, volunteers, and year-
round supporters of Live Like Jake,” said Live Like Jake
Founder Keri Morrison. “We are so grateful to all who
came out for our return to downtown Abacoa where we
raised a record number of funds. The foundation has
provided over 3,400 scholarships for ISR self-rescue
lessons for families in need and more than 600 children
have learned to self-rescue in the two years since our Independence Middle School won “Largest School Group” with their Future Teacher’s Academy.

our mission at Live Like Jake is to support those families
whose lives have been forever changed by a nonfatal
drowning accident. Those families whose children survive
a drowning but have lifelong medical needs as a result. We
are so happy to be able to use donations raised this year
to help give them some of the relief they urgently need.”
Following the 5K winners’ awards and prize drawings,
Morrison shared the foundation’s upcoming events which
include: Watermelons for Water Safety (June 1 to Aug. Jupiter Beach Specialists
31), Poker for Prevention at the Palm Beach Kennel Club
on June 25, and the Oct. 14 Gala at Lady Jean Ranch in
Jupiter Farms.
More than 50 sponsors were on board to support the solD solD
5K this year, including Lifesaver sponsors Life Saver
Pool Fence and ISR instructors from around the nation.
